Position of a MTB electric crankset motor inside or under the frame?
There are two brackets to change the position of the LIFT MTB electric motor.
The under-frame mount, designed to allow you to attach the electric bike motor below the bottom tube of your frame, or the internal mount that allows you to attach the electric bike motor inside the frame…
So, no matter what, the ground clearance is generally much better than the Bosch, Yamaha and bafang mountain bike engines.
As you can see in the picture below, with a frame that fits well, the system offers ideal ground clearance even when mounted under the frame.

Real ground clearance internal engine or under frame :
When mounted under the frame, it is extremely rare that the motor kit touches, because generally, if it must touch, it is at the level of the chainring which will be at the same height as a classic bike.
Indeed, when you go down an obstacle with momentum you never reach as high as the position of the engine, you would have to come to a virtual stop on a step without pulling on the handlebars, which except for accidents never happens.
That’s why modern frames often have shapes that favor internal engine mounts.
And if by chance you come to touch, it will always be better that it is the support LIFT MTB engine or the bottom bracket motor housing that comes into contact, rather than the frame tube that is no more than 1 to 2 mm thick in aluminum or carbon as on the YETI in photo above…
The motor support of the LIFT MTB kit is a heat treated 7075 aluminum plate of 8 mm thickness, then CNC machined, the motor housing when it has an aluminum thickness of 10mm so the whole will be very solid to the shock!
The motor support is fixed on the ISCG studs in place of thebash guard which is a part that is normally used to protect the plate or the frame from impacts. (as you can see on the picture below.)
The motor support of the kit will replace the bash guard in case of shock.
So in practice, no chance that it will move when mounted under the frame!

Battery position.
Because of its low weight, most users prefer the battery in the backpack.
Mounting the motor under the frame can also make it easier to place a battery on the frame (even if this is in a second time) or to put a water bottle.
